How to Prepare a Matcha Granita

Don't have an ice cream maker? No problem! This Matcha Granita recipe is the perfect refreshing summer treat! Similar to shave ice, granita can be made with a few simple ingredients and items you have around the house. 

Here's how to prepare a Matcha Granita:

    1. Whisk together 2 tsp of Junbi Daily Ceremonial Matcha with 1/2 cup of water, then add your remaining 1.5 cups of water.
    2. Add your matcha, sugar, and a splash of vanilla extract and mix thoroughly.
    3. Pour your mixture into a food storage container and put in the freezer. 
    4. After an hour, take the granita out and mix it.
    5. Every 30-45 minutes, take your mixture out and rake through with a fork until you have an icy texture similar to shave ice. 
    6. For a soft, fluffy texture, blend the mixture in a blender and then pour back into your food storage container and refreeze.
    7. Rake through again, then your granita is ready to enjoy! Matcha Granita can be topped with condensed milk, fruit, or enjoyed on it's own.
