Here's what you'll need:

Bread Rolls

1 cup milk, warm
5 tbsp sugar
1 packet (3 tsp) active dry yeast
3¾ cup bread flour
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened to room temp

Optional: Egg wash (1 egg + 1 tbsp water)

Sweetened Matcha Cream Cheese

2 cup cream cheese, softened to room temp
5 tbsp sugar
¼ cup milk
6 cloves of garlic, finely minced
2 tsp Junbi Matcha

Sweet Garlic Butter

1 cup unsalted butter, melted
½ cup parmesan cheese
2 bulbs (about 16-20 cloves) of garlic, minced (yep, you read that right!)
3 tbsp condensed milk
1 egg
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp parsley

Makes 8 garlic bread rolls

Here's how to make Matcha Cream cheese Stuffed Garlic Bread:

First, Let's make the Bread Rolls

STEP 1: WARM THE MILK

In a bowl, microwave the milk for 20 seconds (make sure it's not too hot or it will kill the yeast!) Stir in sugar and yeast. Let it sit for at least 8 minutes - you should get a foamy bubbly layer on top.

STEP 2: MIX & WHISK

In a large bowl, mix the bread flour, salt, and eggs. Once combined, whisk in the yeast mixture and continue mixing until incorporated. Get ready to give this kneady dough some TLC!

STEP 3: KNEAD THE DOUGH

Knead for about 5-10 minutes - you can use a stand mixer or do this by hand for a nice workout 😉

Once the dough is supple, smooth, and elastic, add softened butter and knead to combine for about 15-20 minutes. The finished dough should be smooth and not sticky!

STEP 4: ROLL & TUCK

Roll and tuck the dough to form a smooth ball. Place in a lightly-oiled bowl and cover with a moist towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise for 1 hour in a warm, dark place.

STEP 5: PUNCH IT OUT

After an hour passes, test your dough by poking it. If the hole stays, you’re good to go! 🙌🏼

Punch down the dough to get rid of all the air and knead with your hands for another 3 minutes.

STEP 6: DIVIDE INTO EIGHT

Divide into 8 equal pieces, while rolling and tucking the dough under each piece to form a smooth ball. (Perfection isn’t necessary here!)

STEP 7: LET IT RISE

On a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover the dough balls loosely with plastic wrap or a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes. During the rising time, preheat your oven to 350°F

After the dough has risen the second time, it’s finally time to bake! 🎉

OPTIONAL: EGG WASH

If using the optional egg wash, brush it onto the dough at this point.

STEP 8: PUT IT IN THE OVEN

Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.

Next, Let's make the Sweetened Matcha Cream Cheese

STEP 9: SMOOTH & MIX

In a large bowl, smooth out the cream cheese. Add sugar, garlic, Junbi matcha and thoroughly mix.

Lastly, add the milk, whisking until smooth. Put the finished product into a piping bag (or a ziplock bag) and set aside.

Now, for the Sweet Garlic Butter Sauce

STEP 10: WHISK GARLIC BUTTER INGREDIENTS

Add garlic, parmesan, condensed milk, egg, parsley, and honey to the melted butter. Whisk thoroughly until combined, drool because of how good it smells, and set aside until the bread is ready.

Finally, it's time to assemble!

STEP 11: SLICE THE BREAD

Slice each bread roll into 6 sections. We want these sections to still be attached so make sure not to cut through all the way, but keep it close to the bottom. (Think: blooming onions!)

STEP 12: STUFF WITH CREAM CHEESE

Pipe in the cream cheese mixture in between each bread section (about halfway up)

STEP 13: DUNK IT IN THE BUTTER

Time for these babies to go for a swim in the sweet garlic butter! Make sure to evenly coat the bread and even get the bottoms. Don’t be afraid to get dirty!

STEP 14: BAKE IT AGAIN

Place each garlicky bread roll on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 350°F or until the tops are crisp and firm to your liking. Serve fresh and enjoy!

STEP 15: SHARE & ENJOY!
