How to Prepare Matcha at Home

In order to Prepare Daringly™ with Junbi, you’ll have to learn how to prepare matcha! Let’s take it back to the basics with a simple tutorial:


STEP 1: ADD MATCHA

Use your bamboo scoop (or a measuring spoon) to measure 1 teaspoon of our ceremonial grade matcha and put it in your chawan (traditional tea bowl), or any bowl large enough to whisk at least 4 ounces of water without spilling.

STEP 2: ADD WATER

Add 4 ounces of water to your bowl. This can be hot, cold, lukewarm… whatever you’re feelin’ today!

STEP 3: WHISK

Whisk in an "M" motion until the matcha is dissolved well, about 30-45 seconds. You’ll know it’s ready when your tea looks smooth and frothy!

STEP 4: CUSTOMIZE 

If you like drinking your matcha straight up, top it off with 4 ounces of warm water or 8 ounces of cold water. Or customize it to your liking with your choice of sweetener, fruit purees, milk or dairy alternatives. Honey & oat milk is one of our favorite combinations!

STEP 6: CLEAN

After you’ve enjoyed your matcha, clean your kit! The chawan can be hand washed with soap and water, while the bamboo whisk & spoon can be cleaned with just warm water — no soap needed.
